Product Review ~ Starlet Glam Bath & Body

Starlet Glam Bath & Body

After our interview with Starlet Glam Bath & Body, owner Peggy kindly offered to let Bear and I each try a product of our choice from her shop.

The products:

We each chose a whipped soap, Bear selected Red Velvet Cake (which regular readers know is her favorite kind of cupcake).

I chose the Coconut Cream.

The results:

Bear was delighted with her soap. She loves the fragrance and uses it all the time.

I really like the scent of the coconut cream, though I have to admit that it's not what I had imagined. I was thinking it would be a fresh coconut scent, but it's more like coconut cake. Of course, it says right in the product description, "The Coconut Cream fragrance has a creamy vanilla base with notes of coconut, butter, and a hint of fresh baked," which is my cue to read product descriptions more carefully.

When we use the soaps, the bathroom smells deliciously of either red velvet cake or coconut cake, which is nice. But the fragrance from the soaps doesn't linger on the skin to interfere with our other fragrances.

It only takes a quick swipe over the surface of the soap with a bath pouf (or "puffy" at chez boliyou) to get enough lather to cover you from neck to knees - you need a tiny bit more to get all the way to your toes. It's very satisfactory lather and as I said, fragrant without being clingy or overpowering. The jars we received, which retail for $10, will easily last us for months.

The soaps are vegan, and although we're not vegans, we do like the idea of the soaps being cruelty-free. However, there are chemicals in there -  titanium dioxide, for example. They're not edible, as it clearly states on the label. The ingredient lists are published on the site as well as on the labels, so you know exactly what's going into the product.

The upshot:

Long-lasting, good-smelling soaps. They rinse away easily and leave your skin feeling clean.
