1. Tell us about your work
We refinish and restore furniture items, concentrating & specializing in antique, heirloom, and vintage pieces. We sell through a variety of channels. We have an online shop via Etsy, a retail display booth at Stillwater Antiques Center in Greenville, RI, and can be found at the Providence Flea Marketplace throughout the year.

We also provide custom refinishing & restoration services on your own existing furniture. You tell us how you'd like it to look, and we'll execute your vision. We provide door-to-door service, complimentary when you choose to work with us. We strive to make the process as convenient and seamless for our clients as possible.

2. Is there a story behind the name of your business?
It's a play on words. A combination of our last name & "lining" to create one of our favorite phrases. It reminds us to focus on the positive whenever possible. It also helps that we're in Rhode Island, where "Silver Lining" would most likely be pronounced "Silvah Lining" =)

3. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
Andreia was born with the creative gene. She's been creating & designing since she was a child. Mark has a business background, and together they each bring qualities and skills necessary to be successful. Anybody can be an artist or designer, but it requires a bit more to cultivate it into a profitable business.

4. Where do you draw your inspiration?
We try and stay current with today's styles and trends. We dedicate time to social media which provides us with local and national info and ideas. We don't forget about printed media either, and focus on local publications to get a grasp on the area's current tastes and preferences.

We use various neutral colors on our larger furniture items, so they will blend and coordinate nicely with just about any existing color scheme and decor. We also tend to navigate towards beachy/coastal/nautical themes...we are in the Ocean State after all!

5. What’s your favorite item to create?
Our favorite items to work on are custom client orders. These items tend to be heirloom pieces with sentimental value, or an essential centerpiece of the home, like a dining room table. It's a special feeling when a client becomes emotional over a treasured family item they have entrusted us to take good care of.

6. What’s your best seller?
Our best sellers are vanities and Mersman end tables. Vanity sets are always in high demand, and they rarely last long. Mersman was a very popular American furniture manufacturer whose most common items were end tables. They're pretty easy to find, and we've done them in all sorts of colors, styles and finishes. They're very versatile and can be used as anything from accent tables to nightstands.

7. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
Andreia was born in Portugal and moved to RI when she was 4. Mark was born and raised in East Providence, RI.

8. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
We love that Rhode Island has something to offer everyone. There's a full four seasons, the beach/ocean is always close by, and the restaurants are outstanding.

9. Favorite place to take out-of-towners?
It depends on the time of the year. If it's Summer, it's definitely Newport, with a Del’s along the way. If it's Winter, it's to a show at PPAC, a stroll through the Arcade, or a stop at Olneyville, of course!

10. Any advice for new/wannabe makers?
Our motto says it all: “Do what you love, and love what you do.” There's nothing holding you back. Keep your costs/overhead low, your smile wide, and your ears open!

11. Please include anything else you’d like to add:}
