1. Tell us about your work
I am an illustrator. I work freelance for all kinds of businesses, doing art for advertising, marketing, children's books, journal articles, private commissions, greeting cards, etc. I also have my own line of greeting cards, postcards, and art prints. When I'm drawing for myself, I love to create whimsical scenes of people and animals interacting in unusual ways. I think my drawings feel like fairy tales.

2. Is there a story behind the name of your business?
I draw dogs. Yes, I used to be a pet portrait artist, that's how I got started. The name just stuck!

3. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
I have always loved to draw. I dreamed of being an illustrator from an early age, and it has just happened very gradually.

4. Where do you draw your inspiration?
Classic fairy tale illustrations, retro posters, winter, deep forests, hot chocolate, songs, rainy days, myths and legends, and, of course, the amazing work by other artists that fills my instagram feed.

5. What’s your favorite item to create?
I love to draw brown bears and forests.

6. What’s your best seller?
I have an illustration of a woman and a bear, wearing masks, dancing in the snowy woods. It's been a popular seller in my etsy shop, and has also served as the inspiration for several requests I have received for private commissions.

7. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
My whole life!

8. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
There are so many beautiful places to hike in RI. I love hiking though the woods and spotting remnants of old structures, broken down and overgrown, left over from some old farm or mansion. We have forests, lakes and ponds, wetlands, waterfalls, the ocean, farm fields, we even have a "desert" in West Greenwich!

9. Favorite place to take out-of-towners?
Everyone always wants to go to the beach!

10. Any advice for new/wannabe makers?
It can be a struggle sometimes, but don't let it get you down. If you love what you do, others will love it too. Find ways to stay motivated - I find that a tasty chocolate chai and a walk in the woods can do wonders for your mental energy.
