1. Tell us about your blog.
It’s a lifestyle blog with a strong focus on Rhode Island places (including restaurants), people, and things as well as funny or informative
posts about relationships, health and wellness, style, and beauty. We post new content Monday thru Friday. On the weekends, you’ll always find
popular posts from the archive. I find that people enjoy either re-reading those or catching them for the first time because they missed them for whatever reason.
(We were voted Best Local Lifestyle Blog 2015 by readers of RI Monthly Magazine too.)

2. Is there a story behind the name of your blog?
It’s my name. I hope people won’t find that too narcissistic. (I actually prefer to spotlight people other than myself on site.)

3. How did you get started?
Before I started the site, I was big on Facebook. I also have a writing and English Lit. background. So the blogging is something of an organic progression for me. (I worked in retail for almost 20 yrs before launching my site on Oct. 1st 2014.)

4. Who is your target audience?
I’d have to say our audience is 80-20 women, but everyone reads the food/restaurant stuff and the My RI Life series that runs on Tuesday every week.
The biggest compliment I get is people (guys and girls) who approach me when I’m out and about to tell me how they “discover” so many new places by reading the blog.

I’m flattered. That’s definitely a goal of mine when it comes to content, but it’s gratifying to hear that IRL from people who follow PattyJ.com .

5. What do you love about what you do?
Love getting out into the world (I previously worked in a mall for 14 years.) and seeing the state (So many beautiful spots!), meeting different people, hearing their stories…

I learn something every single day.

6. What’s your most popular type of post?
I’d say the My RI Life is extremely popular. People look forward to those and watch for them every week. They also get lots of ‘shares’ on FB.

7. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
I’m a native RI’er. born and raised on the west side (now West Broadway/the Armory District) of Providence. I also graduated from Classical HS and the URI (with a BA in English Lit)

8. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
Everyone I heart is here and I love the fact that you can be in the city, jump in your car, and in 40 minutes, you’re at the beach. Everything’s here and it’s accessible.

9. Any advice for people wanting to get started blogging?
My best advice would be to keep blogging. Consistency is key! Sometimes I’ll come across sites people started and just stopped updating and they’re awesome sites. What a shame.

Or I’ll see people who started a blog and didn’t update it for two months. It’s hard to come back after that because you’ve probably lost a lot of your ‘regulars’ at that point…Also seek out other bloggers or instagramers in your area for inspiration, ideas, and advice. That’s a good way to stay motivated.

10. Favorite place to take out of towners?
Take them out for a meal. For starters. Ha! Tons of fantastic spots in the state. It depends if it’s casual or something dressier, like a fine dining type vibe. I’m a fan of so many places. I hate to single out only one or two.

11. Please include anything else you’d like to add:
Thank you I Heart Rhody for including me on your site! It’s truly an honor to be featured.
