1. Tell us about your work:
I hand paint ornaments, I enjoy painting on a very small scale and my ornaments are my little canvases.

2. Is there a story behind the name of your business?
When coming up with a name for my shop I wanted to combine two words that work well together. I hope that my products make people “joyful” and I enjoy the combination of that word with generation. In a way JoyfulGeneration is a vision of optimism.

3. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
I love to give people things I create. A couple years ago I had painted ornaments for family and friends as Christmas presents and thus JoyfulGeneration was born.

4. Where do you draw your inspiration?
I am a college student pursing a degree in art so I am constantly inspired as I continue to learn. Generally, my ornaments feature my favorite things. I am an animal lover, and a majority of my ornaments are animals. I carry a sketch book with me and when I get an idea, I have to create it right away, I get so excited that I can’t wait!

5. What’s your favorite item to create?
My favorite ornaments are any of the ones that I personalize, hopefully hung on Christmas trees for many joyful generations.

6. What’s your best seller?
My mermaids!

7. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
My entire life I have lived in Rhode Island. It’s a great little state.

8. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
I heart the many opportunities that Rhode Island has. It may be the smallest state but Rhode Island truly has a little bit of everything. I also enjoy the prevalence of the art community, Rhode Island is filled with friendly and talented artists and it’s wonderful to be surrounded by such inspiration.

9. Any advice for new/wannabe makers?
Connect yourself with other artists and attend craft fairs and markets! Be inspired by the beautiful world around you.
