1. Tell us about your work
My work is a reflection of the things that I love. I am constantly inspired by stories, movies, characters, costumes and so much more.

2. Is there a story behind the name of your business?
I have always had a love of fairytales, Disney, princesses, etc. I am all about "do it yourself" projects, why buy it when you can create it? I wanted the name to reflect my personality as well as the items in my shop- thus, Once Upon a DIY was born :)

3. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
I have grown up crafting, making messes and constantly being involved in projects. I have ideas in my mind of something I'd love to see or have and find a way to create it! I love turning something "old" into something new and different!

4. Where do you draw your inspiration?
I have a love of "girly" things. I love sparkle, I love shoes, I love noticing tiny details, all of which I try to include in my designs! I will walk into a craft store and leave with baskets full of things I didn't know I needed, until I saw what they could potentially turn into!

5. What’s your favorite item to create?
I love creating new designs and seeing them come to life once I make them, when other people love the creations as much as I do it's a very fulfilling feeling!

6. What’s your best seller?
The Ice Queen shoes are the best seller by far. I had no idea what started out as an experiment would turn into something that has now been sold in various countries- some of which I have never even been to myself!

7. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
I have grown up in Rhode Island my whole life, I plan to travel quite a bit as my boyfriend is in the military, but we do plan to end up back here again, I love my state!

8. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
I live by the water in southern RI, so I love the ocean, the beautiful views from nearly anywhere around here. The small and cozy feeling, RI just feels like home.

9. Any advice for new/wannabe makers?
What has worked for me is going above the expectation, paying attention to details, make sure what you are giving is something you would be thrilled to receive. When it comes to your business be a perfectionist. Above all, make sure the customer is happy, which sometimes means you taking a hit. It will be worth it in the long run. Also, don't forget to pay yourself! Your time, energy and effort are valuable.

10. Please include anything else you’d like to add:
My favorite part about creating my items is when I receive photos and feedback about how happy a customer is. I work 2 jobs aside from my business and sometimes having many orders at once can become overwhelming, but knowing I created something to make someone else happy and seeing that finished result is the greatest feeling!
