1. Tell us about your work:
We are a mother and daughter team that have been crafting and creating for generations. We make lots of designs from Skirts, tutus, wedding apparel, hair pieces, dance wear and more. This is our full time job. We put a lot of love and care into each piece we create and custom design.

2. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
Since we both have always been into crafts, My mother worked as a seamstress when she was younger at the local Lawsons, and even before that at her grandmothers dress shop in Central Falls, Faubes. I grew up following in her footsteps and learned to sew, and went to school for art and photography at Rhode Island collage. Before long we put our heads together and created "sisters of the Moon Designs". We Started with selling hair falls and accessories on Ebay, in 2001, before stepping up our game. In 2008 we started making out first clothing line, opened up shop on Etsy and sistersofthemoondesign.com . and since then have sold over 10,000 items worldwide.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration?
Mom loves to watch a lot of the older black and white movies where the clothing is very well done and amazingly beautiful, from the love of Stevie Nicks and what she wears. This is also where our name came from. I get my inspiration from all over, even just looking at fabric will give me ideas of what it wants to be made into. I do like to focus on Fantasy, Cosplay, Steampunk, and Gothic ideas, but I don't mind using light and bright colors to change things up.

4. What’s your favorite item to create?
I love creating long flowing skirts, the bigger the the better. Halloween designs are some of the fun ones. I do all kinds of stuff to the skirt to make it crazy and fun and still very wearable. I have made some nice wedding/Prom skirts that were fun and beautiful.

5. What’s your best seller?
Our tutus have to be the biggest seller, Short and long. But if I have to pick just one, We do sell a lot of our Romance design.

6. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
We have both lived here our entire lives.

7. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
Nothing is too far away, oh and of course a Dunkin' on every corner to get you through. :)

8. Please include anything else you’d like to add:
We don't have an actual shop in RI. We do everything from home and sell only on the internet. We love taking custom orders. We make items for weddings, dance troupes, roller derby, charity events, cosplay, club wear, Halloween costumes, Adult tutus and Children's... We can do pet costumes as well.
