1. Tell us about your work -
I craft all natural bath and body items - natural cold process soap bars, wood wick candles, fun bath items, aromatherapy shower treats, body scrubs and mousses, our products are vegan, I also teach soap making classes

2. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
I don't really think of myself as one - I just love creating and sharing with people - and making them happy - one soap at a time! - sorry - could not resist :)
I have always chosen natural products and liked trying new items, my husband has sensitive skin and we tried all kinds of products - the ones that were gentle did not always smell the way we would like - so I started experimenting and came up with a recipe that worked and used all natural ingredients and essential oils., before we knew it we were opening our own shop!

3. Where do you draw your inspiration -
from all over - sometimes it is something that a customer or a friend will say, an experience from my childhood -or a flavor - our pineapple coconut soap was born because I was in a mood for tropical vacations and pina coladas - our kiddie bath bomb with the toy inside was inspired by a favorite treat when I was growing up -

4. What’s your favorite item to create?
I can't say I have a favorite item -it's like saying you have a favorite child, :) I am partial to anything lavender - the scent of it reminds me of my childhood and makes me happy, I love making our wood wick candles - the palm wax blend we have created and use sets with beautiful glass like sparkling crystals - I love watching them form - and even though the process is tricky it is worth every minute

5. What’s your best seller?
 - any one of our soap bars, our shower steams always fly out of the door, our whipped Shea body mousse, or our wood wick candles

6. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
 - I have been in Rhode island for the past 12 years, living Newport, and I have had my business since 2012 -

7. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
 - I love the ocean , the fact that I met my husband here and that community is always tight wherever you live, I really can't imagine living anywhere else

8. Please include anything else you’d like to add:
I never thought I would be a soap maker - I have always had a passion for cooking and baking, and I love collecting recipes - my grandmother taught me a lot -she was a great cook - and she was also the first person I saw making soap - growing up - every summer when I was visiting her I remember her making her lye soap - a recipe that she swore was the best ever for everything -for hand washing, for showering, for laundry, stain removal - there was no job that her soap was not able to tackle - I remember watching her make it and thinking what is she cooking that smells so bad :) there is no way that will be soap - in a way cooking and soap making are very similar - you follow a recipe, use a lot of utensils and tools you would in a kitchen - and you gotta watch the heat! :)
