Tell us about your work.
I sell handmade porcelain pendants, and crystal and semi precious stone earrings, bracelets and necklaces paired with sterling and porcelain stone. I also throw functional pottery.

How did you become a professional artist/crafter?
As an undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts, I lived in China for 2 years from 1979-1981 as an exchange student. The experience of Chinese esthetics and language provide a basis to explore cultural icons from home and around the world. I carve Archaic Chinese Characters, Petroglyphs, Hindu Chakra symbols, Celtic knots and other icons into leather hard clay tablets and use the tablets after they are bisque fired as molds. I press porcelain into the molds and carefully shape, fire, and glaze the pendant images.

I became a clay artist and designer when I joined the South County Art Association in Kingston RI in 1998.

Where do you draw your inspiration?
I draw my inspiration from many sources, my teachers, other artists, nature but primarily from culturally significant and healing images.

What is your best seller?  What is your favorite item to make?
I have sold many icons and my favorite piece was a beaded Om bracelet. My favorites [of my functional pottery pieces] are lidded vessels, tea pots, and covered jars which I decorate with icons and glaze.

How long have you lived in Rhode Island?
I love South County and the community around me and have lived here since 1982.

What do you {heart} about Rhody?
The ocean, rivers and beauty of RI has drawn me here. I alway knew one day I would live in RI.
