1. Tell us about your work:
My jewelry collection consists of 73 handcrafted Sterling Silver necklaces and earrings. Each piece is carefully and completely handmade, including the high quality chains, giving them a rich, dramatic, one of a kind essence. My detailed ethnic style, combined with a rare blend of Victorian charm, is enhanced by luminous high quality semi-precious gemstones from India and Thailand, naturally infused with beneficial healing properties. Almost every piece contains at least one Rainbow Moonstone, with as many as 42!

My Freedom collection also features Tibetan Turquoise, Carnelian and Baltic Amber. Some pieces also contain significant symbols or words to enlighten the spirit, bringing harmony, balance, love and protection. Most of all, each piece is meant to create a personal self expression, to adorn the body and radiate beauty.

2. How did you come to be a professional artist/crafter/designer?
After knowing at age 7 that I was destined to be an artist, along with the full support and encouragement from my family, I graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. After graduating, I worked as a Freelance Illustrator, while owning and managing a bohemian boutique in Providence, where I sold handcrafted jewelry and clothing from around the world. After many years in retail, I decided to focus more on my illustration skills, and began designing jewelry. I was employed as a full time jewelry designer for 15 years, before launching my own jewelry business, Bluemoonstone Creations.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration?
Always fascinated by the intricate design work of the Balinese, along with my passion for yoga, I made my first journey to the magical land of Bali in 2008. This transforming experience, immersed in the Hindu culture, surrounded by immeasurable talent, inspired me to design my unique line of Sterling Silver gemstone jewelry. I now consider Bali a second home, and travel there regularly to be inspired, and to work closely with highly skilled artisans, who handcraft the styles based on my detailed renderings. I also incorporated my interest in Astrology, by designing a line of Sterling Silver Zodiac pendants and earrings.

4. What’s your favorite item to create?
I love to design necklaces, which is the starting point of all my creations. My first collection, launched in 2012, consisted of 32 Sterling Silver necklaces, which established my 3 lines: Mystic Moon, Zodiac and Freedom. From there, I was inspired to add matching earrings and some smaller pendants to my collection, which launched in 2013. I am now currently working on bracelets and more earrings, which will be launched in the spring of 2014! (Stay tuned!)

5. What’s your best seller?
My best seller is my Arabia earring from my Freedom collection, which features Rainbow Moonstone with Tibetan Turquoise. It always interests me to see what pieces customers gravitate towards, and in this case, it’s the smallest earring in my collection. Close behind is my Guinevere necklace, which happened to be my first piece sold. This piece, from my Mystic Moon collection, features 42
shimmering Rainbow Moonstones, and is the piece that everyone reaches for at all my events.

6. How long have you been in Rhode Island?
I have been living in RI since 1984, when I started RISD as a freshman... 29 years ago! After graduating from RISD, I decided to stay and make it my home.

7. What do you {heart} about Rhode Island?
I love living in RI since there is an artsy community here, and I can live in the city, while still in a nice neighborhood on the East Side of Providence. I also love being close to the ocean, mountains in NH and not too far from NYC.

8. Please include anything else you’d like to add:
I have lots of exciting events coming up in the next couple of months for anyone wanting to see my collection. I am also available for private appointments.

Nov. 29th- Dec. 2nd: Trunk Shows at Bloomingdales, 59th St. NYC!

Dec. 7th- The RISD Alumni Holiday Sale, Providence, RI.

Dec. 14th- Trunk Show at Innisfree Bodyworks, Pawtuxet Village, RI

All my pieces are also available on my website.
