Sights ~ "The Hannah", Burnside Park, Providence

A new addition to Burnside Park is the bow a ship emerging from the ground. This is The Hannah, an installation by artist Cody Henrichs.

The explanatory card reads,
"The bow of the ship, the Hannah, springs forth from Rhode Island colonial history to interrupt the present, a symbol of rebellion and subsequent unification. The sculpture appears to crest an unseen wave, reminding us of the constant turbulence of urban cycles of renewal, which surround the park."

The Hannah was a packet boat whose crew played an important role in the burning of the HMS Gaspee in 1772.

I'm not sure if this is meant to be a permanent installation or just temporary, but I've seen kids enjoying it since it went up.

Dining ~ La Lupita Tacos Mexicanos ~ Providence

A little treasure in Olneyville.

I have 20 minutes of transfer time between the two buses that take me to and from work. It's a good opportunity to try out one of the businesses at Olneyville Square. Ducking into La Lupita was definitely a plus.

The interior looked clean and well-kept. The staff was friendly and helped me figure out what to try. I ordered a couple of quesedillas, one with chicken, and a chicken burrito. They were made fresh, so I poked around the place while I waited.

There's a small grocery area with Mexican products. I'm not familiar with them, but they must be a taste of home for the Mexican families in the neighborhood.

A small, kind of cafeteria-like dining area is a nice spot to enjoy a meal if you want to stay.

I have to admit, I'm not an expert on Mexican cuisine. I like it, but have no way of telling what's authentic and what isn't. Yelp! reviewers a…
