Events ~ TweetHop at the Holiday Stroll ~ Pawtuxet Village ~ Dec. 10

If you follow @iheartrhody on Twitter, you've probably seen a lot of tweets about the #TweetHop in the last month or so. I {heart} Rhody partnered with Kathie Manchester of NeedFeed and Marta Martinez from the Friends of Pawtuxet Village to organize local businesses to participate.

The Holiday Stroll is the Friends of Pawtuxet Village's baby, and it happens every year, and Kathie and I were asked to organize a TweetHop to coincide. A TweetHop is really an opportunity for social media friends to finally meet face-to-face. Many of the businesses in the Village participated, whether it was to offer prizes for the reception or to have special offers available during the TweetHop.

There were carriage rides with Santa

and the Artist's Exchange sent some of the cast of A Christmas Carol to carol through the Village.

Plus there were so many places in Pawtuxet Village to visit. Bear and C were able to get to every one, though Kathie and I were so busy we didn't get nearly as many of the shops and restaurants as we would have liked.

The weather was a crisp 45 degrees, which after a month in the 70s, made it feel more like Christmas.

The turnout was good, and we were so happy by the great participation from the Village businesses as well as the feedback from the people who came in for the TweetHop and the stroll.

There were a lot of prizes from the Village businesses for the reception at the end of the TweetHop, and O'Roarke's not only gave us a gift basket and gift certificate, but also fantastic space on their second floor for the reception, with a bar, fireplace and comfy leather chairs, it was almost like a big, cozy living room. I wish my pictures did it justice. I also wish I'd known about the space before we'd booked the hall for Bear's Sweet 16.

Here are the Penny Social prizes:
O’Rourke’s Gift Basket
DoggieDo - $15 Gift Card
Twice Told Tales - $25 Gift Card
River’s Edge - $30 Gift Card
Village Arts and Antiques - $25 Gift Card
Village Arts and Antiques – Mug
Village Arts and Antiques – Antique Plate
Little Falls Café - $15 Gift Card
Cork and Brew – Gift Basket
Village Laundry – Gift Basket
River’s Edge – Gift item

2 Tickets for a Christmas Carol
Amie Plant: Pair of Earrings
Amie Plant: Gift Certificate

There was also a Grand Prize "Pawtuxet Village De-Stress For the Holidays Basket" (oh, how I wanted that one!) full of prizes from around the Village:

A Gift Certificate from Innisfree Bodyworks for a 1 hour massage ($70 value),
a Gift Certificate from Cork and Brew ($50 value),
a Gift Certificate from O’Rourke’s ($25 value),
and gift items from River’s Edge Flowers & Gifts,
Little Birdie Papercrafts, Village Arts & Antiques, and a
Water’s Edge Café Mug from Little Falls Café.

The reception was well-attended, and a great opportunity for everyone to stop after hours of shopping and visit with people they don't get to see in person.

We were so happy to help manage the TweetHop! It was a lot of fun.

  1. It's good that there are fun activities included. This makes the event more meaningful.

  2. It's just the right season at the community. There needs to be more enjoyable activities as well.
